Background:

Radio Janakpur 97 MHz is the First FM in Mithilanchal region, commenced work on Chhath Parva, 11th Kartika 2063, an important occasion of Mithila and Janakpur. The people of this region listen to Radio janakpur first time in their own language Maithili, and felt linguistic feelings as my mother speaks from the Radio. Our slogan and pro music won the pleasure of most of the people of Nepal basically of Terai region and India’s Bihar properly of Mithila region. Our slogan is “Aahink Radio Aahink Aawaz.” means yours radio and yours voice. Our radio is Community based radio facilitating or launching the program only which is the real issues of our community. Our public oriented program is very much appreciated by people of different communities of the Terai as well as Sindhuli, Ramechhap mid-hill region. According to our survey, the first choice of the people is Radio Janakpur. We have planned different features of community based program really public oriented.
In the changing situation of Nepal, to strengthen democracy, inclusiveness of individuals, honor to the multi-culture, and multi-lingual society, formation of federal system, it is necessary to access information rights and their feelings to the local level, and Radio Janakpur be the paradigm for the same.

Priority area of Radio Janakpur:

  • Main Language of the radio is Local language Maithili.
  • This Radio represents society and its voice through introducing inclusive and judiciary practices.
  • Introducing ethnic, marginalized group, Maithili lingual as much as possible in main stream of the radio.
  • Prioritize the Program based on Education, Environmental health and sanitation, Women rights, Democracy, Child rights, peace building and contemporary issues of Mithila region.

Radio Janakpur 97 MHz is supposed to be the apex institution in the field of mass media communication in Nepal.

Mission:

Flowing of Cultural, Social, Political and Economic rights of the individual wins the pleasures and became the representative of Nepalese people in the mass media communication sector. The radio wants to see a Mithila region of Nepal where every individual will have equal access on cultural, social, economic and political information which will contribute to exercise their human rights.

  • Conduct the creative and constructive programs for the fundamental identification of Maithili language and culture.
  • Accept to seek the assumption of globalization and set to coordinate local, National and international languages.

Introduction of the Organization:

 

Social Service Youth Centre, Janakpurdham, Dhanusha is a non profit making, non political and non governmental organization. It has been registered at District Administration Office, Dhanusha in B.S. 2053 and affiliated with Social Welfare Council, Kathmandu. It is situated in Janakpurdham, Pidari Chowk in the central region of Nepal. The organization was formed and is operated by a group of young Youth social workers. The formation of a democratic government provided space to the Young Youth social workers who were feel very much disturbed and concerned about the social evils of maternal and child health, child education, dowry system, domestic violence, discrimination against women and low income family. It was related to human rights violence against untouchable people and socially excluded community. The organization decided to work in an organized way to strengthen their economic status, Health, Social Justice, and political conditions. This organization has been associated with many other social organizations, NGOs, INGOs to work in partnership. It has well experience manpower for sharing. The Organization has been working related youth program by changing traditional pattern in so called old culture compost manure, safe drinking water and sanitation, about constitution act and uplifting economic status by introduced income generating activities in underprivileged community.
In 063 Organization also feels for the media right of Madhesh Mithila region and launches first and community FM: Radio Janakpur 97 MHz. After the establishment people of this region first time feels the voice of mother tongue from the radio. From the radio we are launching several types community participation program, listener group formation in 75 VDC of Dhanusha district. Community Voices sharing through the radio, Public talk program. We are also facilitating the environmental health sanitation program through the radio.

Mission:

Our mission is to organize the target group youth children, women, socially excluded and marginalized communities against caste, gender and equity, others social evils and help them to improve their health and make capable community people to raise voice for human rights. We hope to make them self reliant so that they have a proper participation in the decision making bodies of the society and are able to enjoy their rights.

 

Objectives:

  • 1. To advocate for the protection of youth, women and children’s basic rights and support to raise their awareness level in getting make powerful.
    2. To organize and make capable socially excluded Madhesi, Dalit, Women and Janjati to fulfill the basic human needs of food, shelter, water, education, health and security and empower the communities for the same.
    3. To built capacity of the target community to improve their awareness level towards the need of socio-economic changes and reduce maternal and child mortality rate.
    4. To control population through awareness of family planning and support to increase the contraceptive prevalence rate.
    5. To conduct awareness activities for maximum utilization of the social facilities like education, health, agriculture, Irrigation and environmental services in community
    6. To make peaceful community by improving the water and environmental sanitation and plantation and create awareness in environment protection.
    7. To play an effective role to stop the wide-spread discrimination and exploitation of socially excluded and marginalized communities and organize them to fight against social-evils.
    8. To support Infrastructure building Programs to generate rural employment.
    9. To provide educational skill, technical skill and awareness for employment generation and reduction of poverty.
    10. To built capacity of vulnerable people for small, cottage and micro enterprise creation through income generation activities.
    11. To establish Local fund generation for development of saving practice and conduct saving credit activities and fund mobilization.
    12. To Advocate and organize campaign against the traditional obscurantism like Child marriage and dowry system, Child labor and Haliya Pratha.
    13. To work in partnership with community based organization and other agencies to follow of these vision, mission and objectives.
    14. Research and Feasibility Studies.

Executive Board:

Statute of SSYC, Janakpur has mended to form an executive board of eleven members that consisting of a chairperson, one Vice-chairperson, one treasure, one secretary and seven members. List of Executive Board is given below:
